Genetic and microbiological research at CHES investigates human and primate evolutionary history, population diversity, disease, and host-microbe interactions. Projects explore population and functional genomics, primate genetics, and microbiome science to study adaptation, gene flow, hybridization, and the biological consequences of environmental and cultural change (spanning human population genetics, primate genomics, and microbiome-health research). Ongoing work includes research on human demographic history, primate evolutionary genetics, host-pathogen dynamics, and the role of gut microbiota in metabolism and health.
